What's Up at The Deaf Leaders Retreat

2014 Deaf Leaders Prayer and Planning Retreat - Day 1
Wednesday August 6, 2014.

We checked into the resort at 4pm. All went well, one of the registering clerks was a CODA ( Child of a Deaf Adult) which made our check in experience fun and exciting.
We were then taken to our 2 bedroom villa located on the 5th floor (yeay God)  which was spacious, clean and pleasant to the eye.
After a  time of prayer and ThanksGiving, we took time to unpack and settle into our new "home" for the next few days. The next step was to get some grocery shopping done, as our villa came with a fully loaded kitchen that even included a washer and dryer. And as God would so graciously have it, Walmart was less than 2 minutes away from the resort.

Shopping was an adventure in and of itself, but we "got her done" and arrived home excited to finally eat a meal.

Together we, yes 3 ladies in one kitchen at the same time, made ourselves a fresh veggie wrap topped with shredded roasted chicken. Ummmmm Good, Healthy and Refreshing.

We all took deeps breaths as we savored the flavors that exuded both from our taste buds and our eyes as a result of the serenity all around us. The conversation was light and delightful and full of appreciation to God for Him making such an opportunity available to us.

After dinner, we changed into our swim suits and headed down to one of 7 heated pools on the property.  It was at poolside that the introduction of the subject matter for this retreat was introduced.

Define what is a Christian Leader. This was the discussion question for the evening. Followed by a homework assignment that asked the participants to:

1. List 3 Leaders in their lives
2. List the leadership qualities they have observed in each person they listed.
3. List 3 people who have had the most impact in their lives ( recognizing that this could include people they don't know personally).
4. Next to each of the names in the above list, list the qualities of the persons who have had the most impact/influence in your life.

We ended our time in the hot tub with individual prayer time  hot showers and some much needed sleep.

Thank God for Jesus and Thank you for praying with and for us as we seek to know Him better.

Until then,

Live and Learn. Love and Lead.
