The window seat would be occupied by a sister in Christ, Me. Rolande D. Dathis, from Houston via Haiti. She was on her way back to Haiti to engage in more ministry, actually teaching and advocating.
We shared some engaging talks about the goodness and faithfulness of God, and then some challenging talks about Psalm 87. I took on the challenge of further study and getting back with her concerning my findings, as she made a case about something's I'm not so sure about, and for now, I'm gonna leave it at that. Anyhews, I found Rolande to be open to helping out a sister. Do you know that she even gave me contact info for her while she's here in Haiti, she said "just in case." Love my Sistas in the faith!
After landing we had a long and tiring process that involved: picking up our luggage, getting a new SIM card for one of our team members, picking up a rental car, staying alert on an empty tummy, fighting off "hustlers" and so much more. But God! it was so hot that even my braids got dusty and dropped. For Really. I had to shampoo and set my hair again last evening. And y'all know how much Blumhagen hates doing hair. It's the equivalent of shopping for me. Jon is a blessed man y'all.
But God! He's so good. Later in the day, hours later He blessed us with LA Colombre. I'm gonna let the pictures tell that story for you. Note the security with the BIG gun. The same thing was at the car rental place that had the look of one of our junk yards back home.
See the shirt, got AR? What do they think he meanest?
Riding through Port au Prince and seeing literally thousands of people lined up on the trash strawn streets pedaling their goods to whosoever will, seeing the decapulated buildings, hungry goats and dogs grazing wherever they can find a small patch of grass, the craziness created where there are no traffic signals and people are literally hanging off of and out of the backs of trucks, cars and motorcycles, all of this in the midst of bustering heated temperatures of 90 plus degrees. And trust that I didn't come close to describing the scenery. I haven't that kind of word picture skill. God, grant me that gift if you will In Jesus name! Amen.
But I told you God gave a refreshing respite several hours later at La Colombre. It was a long day, but worth it. The project manager of the mission Nouchelle Hastings and I did stayed up and got much work done for the mission. Today is a very busy day, so I have to prepare to leave now. In our next post, we'll share the details do why we're we are here, what is the mission, who is the TEAM and what we hope to accomplish.
